I was tempted to write “Chicken Soup for Soul” however being a vegetarian and having never tasted Chicken soup thought I might as well come up with something genuine which I have tasted, felt and vouch for.

So “Energy Drink” it is.

Kerala has fascinated me beyond measure. My two visits till date two different places each time has left me asking for more. It is nature’s beauty at its best. So much so that in my first visit I did’t take out my camera as I just wanted to soak in every frame unfolding in front of me with my eyes. Read on about my first visit to this heaven called Bekal in God’s own country Kerala.

Now imagine and visualize this.

You are on a beach which is almost secluded. Private beach to be precise. Raging sea in front of you, with almost 4 feet high waves crashing on to the shore each wave trying to outdo the other. Each wave outpacing the next one. The deafening roar of these giant waves crashing in. Gush of the wind hitting you gently with each wave. About time for the sun to set behind that vast endless immaculate horizon. Miles and miles of nothing other than the sea in front you. Clouds and sun playing hide and seek while you bask in golden glow of the dusk. The sultry air acting as a balm with each breath.

You gently take a walk on sands strewn with shells of all sizes and rare colors (imagine a violet and a peacock blue shell!!). While you bend down to check out a shell, a huge wave hits you. The wave shocks and almost sweeps you off your feet threatening to wash you away in its wake…and somehow you retain your balance and hold your ground rushing up on shore. You gather your wits from that cheeky shock wave and glance on the other side.

A breath taking view of backwaters greets you. With the coconut palms and bushes so perfectly placed and spaced looks like a work of a divine designer who has designed the landscape. A perfect pattern adding to the rhythm of nature’s song. All shades of green soothe your eyes like never before. The reflection in backwater is as good as mirror image, giving it a surreal feel. The palms bending dangerously low as if it is about to kiss the water. Rare birds and the mighty eagle glide above your head with a swag.

You now hop onto a Kayak and row away to explore the backwater. All you hear is the chirping and calls of birds. Real music to ears. Your eyes wide open and hungry to take in this beauty. You row below a quaint little bridge. You see birds of all sizes and colors on banks on either side. You just want to stop right there in middle of backwater in your kayak and take a deep breath. Soak in the moment. Savour the beauty around you. You are tempted to pinch yourself to check if this is for real. If such a world really exists.

Can you imagine that amidst the roar and cacophony of raging sea you will feel that calm? Can you imagine that watching those waves can energize you immensely and teach you life lessons? Did you know that a raging sea on one side and calm backwaters on other side can coexist few meters apart? Ever thought that in such majestic company of nature’s best can act as the best energy drink you can ever think of?

I didn’t. But now I do. I have lived these moments. I have been mesmerized by this picture perfect canvas of nature unfolding in front of me. I have come back energized and refreshed. Nature has its own ways to surprise me and engulf me in its warm hug. It felt like magic. It felt like a dream.

I am sure this is divine nectar the Gods speak about. And why not I was in the God’s own country. A touch and go visit. A beauty indescribable. Beyond words. You have to experience it to feel it.
